Howdy! I teach Reading classes in 7th grade and Reading Strategies in 6th grade. This is my 15th year to teach at Lockhart Junior High School, but it's my 32nd year to teach overall! I spent the first half of my teaching career in Pflugerville (where I grew up) teaching in elementary schools. Things have really changed there, and here in Lockhart. There is lots of growth, not only in the community, but for teachers as well. I continue to attend workshops and training sessions to improve my skills as a teacher.
I really enjoy working with preteen students. In fact, I am the youth director at my church and spend Sundays with 6th-12th graders. I grew up in a family with six brothers so cheering on sports teams was a big part of my life. I have two daughters that attended outstanding Lockhart schools! Savannah, works at Rice University as an enrollment coordinator. Scarlett is getting ready to graduate from college and begin nursing school. Both girls attended Texas A&M (did you notice my "Howdy" at the beginning?)
You can reach me by emailing my at school: firstname.lastname@example.org. When our phones are up and running, you can call me (but I don't have a number just yet). My conference period is from 11:05-11:58. I am looking forward to helping my students become successful readers!
